The Proposal -March 29, 2012

So this is my very first blog post.
Ever.
I figured a lot is going on in my life
and its hard to tell everyone the same story
over and over.
So now I blog.
Oh boy.

I thought I would do a little catch up
with all these changes
before I start posting about the new things.

The Proposal.
It all started when I got back from my trip to New York
with the BYU-Idaho pianists including
my cousin Kami.
The night I got back,
Matt showed up with a bouquet of flowers
and a piece of paper that mapped out the next 5 days.

It was the sweetest thing and I was clueless
as to what was going to happen these next few days.

So Wednesday he took me to the Timpanogos temple
and we just took some fun pictures with his sister's camera
and went out for a treat after.

 One of my favorites!

 What a keeper! :)

So that concluded Wednesday's surprise.
Matt wouldn't let me see or have access to these pictures
and later I understood why :)

So Thursday came and I had to work at Subway.
I surprisingly had a great day at work
(Thanks to Matt).
He came to pick me up
and we went to his sister Hillary's house
where she wanted to practice wedding hair on me.
I LOVE having my hair played with
so I of course had no objection!
Then as we are all sitting and talking
my best friend Krysta walks into the room.
Totally caught me off guard and threw me for a loop!

Matt goes on to explain
that once I was done getting my hair done,
Krysta and I were going to get Manicures.
I remember explaining to Matt
that I HAD to have my nails done when I got engaged
because everyone looks at your hand with your ring
and I wanted it to look good.

So as soon as he said those words
my heart started racing and I got all red (of course!)
Everyone was quiet to see my reaction...
I had butterflies!

So Krysta and I went to get manicures
and it was a ton of fun!
The lady kept making fun of my
"baby nails"
but I didn't let that get me down!

Once we were done we started to head back
and Krysta had missed the turn
to go back to Hillary's.
She explained that we were not going there,
we were going to my Grandmas
(where I was living at the time).
She then missed that turn
and my heart starts racing even faster
as I yell "Gosh dang-it Krysta!"
over and over.
I could feel it coming.

We turn the corner to a park
where Matt and I really got to know each other
and had some of our deepest conversations.
I could see him standing there
with a table all set
and surrounded by quite a few dozen roses.
Both red and white.
It was absolutely gorgeous!

Matt comes to Krysta's car and walks me to the table.
We sit down and try to make small talk
as we both were so nervous
and our hearts racing.
He remembered one of my favorite meals
from I HOP and had that for us to eat.

He then asks if I would like to see the pictures from yesterday
on his laptop.
So as we are sitting watching a little slideshow
of the pictures from the previous day,
it all of the sudden changes to older pictures of us
from the whole time we dated.
He also put it to our first dance song.
You can imagine how fast my heart is racing now!

In fact,
Why don't I let you see the slideshow!
Here is it :)

As soon as it was over,
Matt was standing behind me
and asked me to turn around.
I swear time slowed down and everything
was in slow motion!
But as I turned,
Matt was down on one knee
and my stomach dropped to the floor.

I tried to stay serious,
I really did!
But I couldn't help from smiling
at Matt's friends Connor and Marley
who were running across the park with
a video and picture camera :)
It was awesome!

Then we had a little fun with the camera
after Connor and Marley left :)

It was a really special moment.
Matt and I choked up a little bit,
but were filled with such joy that it was finally happening!
He gave me the perfect ring
and the perfect day.
I couldn't have asked for more :)

  4. Oh Brittany! I am so happy you are blogging! I see your mother and Hannah have commented, so we'll have to see about them visiting my blog when they are visiting yours. Haha! It is so fun to get comments and know that people are out there reading your blog. Even if you do it just to update folks and keep a record for yourself, it is fun to get comments. You'll probably get sick of me and my commenting! Your blog looks great--pics are awesome and your storytelling is so great. I don't think I've heard the whole story, so that was fun. xoxo

  6. Yay!!! I love it. You know, I used to be good at blogging. I stopped being good and now I'm regretting it. As I'm making my photo books for 2009 and 2010, I look back at my blog posts and put some of my entries into my photo book. So fun to remember everything! It's a great way to journal your life. Now that I'm not so good at blogging I forget all the details and little day to day things that happen. It's a little sad. So... KEEP blogging! For you and for us readers. :) Love ya! And I love that I got to be a small part of this awesome engagement day!! :)
